A platform to increase online community engagement
OUR STORY
We have started this initiative to connect people and increase their sense of social belongingness to their community by improving their social support system and networks of people who they know. Community engagement and social support have become more critical in these crucial times, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has not only affected infected individuals, but it has increased the level of distress and anxiety in the whole world. The levels of stress are higher in minority communities and especially newcomers.
WHAT WE DO
Regathering.ca provides a platform for newcomers in Canada and minority populations to increase their community engagement and learn from one another’s experiences. People can go to this online platform, create an online Gathering and find those from their community who are interested in their Gathering. Then in an online group of 6 to 8 people, people get online and get together for one hour at a specific time and date proposed by the Gathering organizer. These Gatherings are small in size, interactive, and culturally distinctive. Participants can talk together, find new friends, learn from others’ experiences and potentially network with those who have similar interests.
